Tomago Aluminium smelts cyberthreats with Sophos MTR

Tomago Aluminium, Australia’s largest aluminium smelter with roughly 950 employees (plus contractors), faced growing cyber risk as its network and attack surface expanded. After an internal review highlighted security gaps and with a small IT team unable to monitor 24/7, Tomago turned to Sophos — notably deploying Sophos Managed Threat Response (MTR) alongside other Sophos solutions — to provide proactive, continuous protection.

Sophos delivered 24/7 monitoring, active threat hunting and rapid remediation through Sophos MTR (supported by Device Encryption, XG Firewall and endpoint/server protections), neutralising penetration tests and immediately isolating real incidents such as near‑malware clicks. By preventing attacks before they escalated and taking routine remediation off the internal team’s plate, Sophos improved detection and response times, preserved production continuity, and gave Tomago’s IT staff the capacity to focus on higher‑value work.
