Technical education provider Amal Jyothi ups the game with Sophos

Amal Jyothi College of Engineering (AJCE), a technical college in Kerala serving roughly 3,500 students and 380 faculty (about 5,000 users), was struggling with a legacy security product that caused poor campus connectivity, no user visibility or authentication, limited reporting, and lack of control over web and application activity—disrupting online classes and exams. AJCE evaluated solutions and chose Cyberoam (now Sophos), initially deploying the CR2500iNG–XP and later upgrading to the Sophos XG 650.

Sophos implemented a gateway firewall solution with inline application and HTTPS inspection, web filtering, IPS, VPN, bandwidth controls, Sophos Security Heartbeat, Sandstorm protection, user threat scoring and transparent proxy/Secure Web Gateway policies. The deployment restored reliable connectivity, gave granular user/group controls and customized reporting, automated backups, and fast threat detection/quarantine—protecting about 5,000 users and preventing any security breaches since installation while enabling smooth online teaching and examinations.
