St Paul’s Cathedral achieve a major reduction in support calls with Sophos UTM and makes cost savings of around 20%

St Paul’s Cathedral faced repeated network intrusions and staff-driven security breaches that its expiring McAfee setup could not stop. After trialing vendors (and following Sophos’s acquisition of their existing Astaro firewall), the cathedral chose Sophos, deploying Endpoint Security & Control along with UTM 320 and UTM Network Security to protect about 100 users across four sites.

Sophos implemented the solution in two phases (2011 server-room rebuild and virtualization; 2013 AD and Exchange upgrades and full Sophos rollout), with a third party assisting the migration and the IT team now administering it themselves. The Sophos deployment delivered measurable benefits — roughly 20% cost savings over three years, a major reduction in support calls, less downtime, easier reporting and centralized management.
