A Sophos Case Study
HNB Grameen Finance Limited, a Sri Lankan microfinance and banking organization with over 300,000 customers and dozens of branches, faced frequent WAN link failures, suboptimal use of multiple links, lack of QoS and granular policy control, and exposure to advanced threats. To address these challenges the bank selected Sophos and its Sophos XG Firewall (with Sophos Firewall Manager) to strengthen perimeter security, ensure redundancy, and improve network visibility and control.
Sophos deployed a distributed XG Firewall estate—73 XG105s and 3 XG430s—centrally managed by three Sophos Firewall Managers across 48 branches and 21 service/data centers. The Sophos solution delivered automatic WAN load balancing and failover, QoS and user-based policy control, thorough traffic inspection, and zero branch downtime; the bank also reports optimized bandwidth use, saved man-hours, reduced overhead costs, and improved productivity.
