Inspire Education Group, a further and higher education provider with two main campuses and roughly 13,000 users (4,000 devices and 150 servers), faced rising ransomware risk after a nearby college was hit and urgently needed stronger protection. Already a Sophos customer, the Group evaluated options with partner Phoenix and selected Sophos solutions—including Sophos Central, Intercept X for Server, XG Firewalls—and ultimately added Sophos Managed Threat Response (MTR) in 2021 to bolster ransomware resilience.

Sophos rapidly deployed MTR as a 24/7 managed threat‑hunting, detection and response service, working alongside the Group’s IT team to provide automated alerts, actionable remediation and staff upskilling. The service helped prevent any loss or damage at the Stamford campus where MTR was already active, supported rapid response after an attack at Peterborough (80 servers were compromised there but recent backups reduced data loss), and delivered faster incident handling, cost and time savings and the ongoing peace of mind the Inspire Education Group sought.
