A Sophos Case Study
The International School of Prague, a not‑for‑profit K–12 institution with 800+ connected clients (students, staff and many MacBooks/iPads), faced a fragmented, hard‑to‑manage security stack — a Linux firewall, a separate wireless controller and a standalone web filter — that required dealing with multiple vendors and heavy IT maintenance. Seeking a one‑stop solution, the school selected Sophos to provide unified network and wireless security (UTM and Sophos Access Points).
Sophos implemented a UTM 525 (with a backup) and deployed 47 Sophos AP50 access points, rolling out firewall and network security within one week and introducing wireless infrastructure gradually with support from partners IKT Solution and Annexnet. The Sophos deployment simplified management and web filtering, eliminated hours of day‑to‑day maintenance, sped up test and rollout processes, improved wireless stability and security for 800+ users, and left the school planning additional access points to expand coverage.
