A Sophos Case Study
The White Horse Federation, a Swindon-based Multi Academy Trust of 20 primary, secondary and special schools serving 1,500 staff and 8,000 pupils, faced a patchwork of broadband and IT security solutions that made management slow, costly and vulnerable to cyber threats. To standardise and better protect teaching and learning, the Trust ran a tender and chose Sophos (via partner Wave 9), implementing Sophos Central, Sophos UTM and Intercept X alongside consolidated broadband services.
Sophos’ solution—deployed from April 2017—put Sophos UTM in 15 schools, deployed 150 Intercept X licences and rolled out Sophos Central/Enterprise Console across sites, while Wave 9 consolidated leased lines. The result was unified site-to-site VPNs, increased bandwidth and speed, faster day-to-day IT operations, stronger endpoint protection (including Intercept X root-cause analysis) and improved service delivery across the MAT, protecting staff and remote teachers and saving significant time for the IT team.
