Saintgits adds more power to its cybersecurity posture with Sophos

The Saintgits Group of Institutions, a Kerala-based education group serving about 3,000 users across multiple colleges, faced poor internet visibility and control: inability to track or report usage, block unproductive sites, manage bandwidth for exams and online classes, or create separate access zones for different entities. After evaluating vendors, Saintgits selected Sophos (initially CR 2500iNG in 2014, later upgraded to XG 550 at the university with 30 access points and XG 210 for a small administrative office) to address these challenges.

Sophos, implemented by partner Comtech Systems, deployed user-identity based firewalls (XG 550 and XG 210) and AP55C access points to enable per-user/application controls, bandwidth management, web and application filtering, Active Directory single sign-on, and customized reporting. The Sophos solution delivered in-depth visibility into user activity, enforced segregated access across colleges, blocked unproductive sites, produced easy-to-run usage reports by IP, and reduced downtime through professional implementation and weekly backups — allowing Saintgits to reliably support online exams, classes and campus connectivity.
