A Sophos Case Study
Saint Michael’s College, a selective liberal arts college in Burlington, Vermont with about 2,000 students and 148 full‑time faculty, needed a reliable, low‑maintenance security solution to protect a complex environment of roughly 1,200 endpoints, 100 servers and 120 virtual machines. After dissatisfaction with prior tools, the college — introduced to Sophos by reseller Towerwall — sought a “set‑and‑forget” product and selected Sophos Central for centralized, cloud‑based protection.
Sophos deployed Sophos Central across the campus (1,200 endpoint licenses) and added 150 licenses of Sophos Central Server Protection Advanced to secure servers and VMs, giving IT a single web console, robust reporting and web‑protection capabilities. The result: fewer security incidents (previously as many as 10 attacks a week), a significantly lighter workload for the IT team, and faster remediation and policy enforcement — all delivered by Sophos’ cloud‑managed solution.
