A Sophos Case Study
Lynchburg Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant faced the challenge of protecting virtualized SCADA and Linux servers that support critical wastewater operations while meeting ISA/IEC 62443 whitelisting requirements, maintaining 24/7 availability, and doing so with limited IT resources. The City selected Sophos (via reseller InstruLogic), deploying Sophos Server Protection Advanced with Server Lockdown, alongside Sophos Central and Endpoint Protection, to address these needs.
Sophos implemented Server Lockdown to automatically discover and allow only known-good applications, paired with antivirus and antimalware capabilities managed from a single pane of glass. The result was simplified administration for the single technician responsible for the plant, one-click scans and lockdowns, uninterrupted server availability (some servers running continuously for more than two years), no perceptible performance impact, and effective blocking of unauthorized applications.
