Lassen County Office of Education - Customer Case Study

The Lassen County Office of Education, which supports 10 school districts and 4,500 students in Lassen County, CA, needed to migrate antivirus protection for its schools and the broader county government to a unified, easier-to-manage solution with better support. Managing more than 2,000 endpoints and 60 servers, LCOE moved away from Symantec and Hauri and selected Sophos—deploying Sophos Endpoint Protection and SafeGuard Enterprise Encryption—to deliver comprehensive endpoint security and encryption.

Sophos performed an automatic migration to Sophos Endpoint Protection (with SafeGuard for many Windows XP PCs) and centralized management via an enterprise console; the result was an immediate, significant reduction in malware infections, noticeably improved endpoint performance (scans no longer slowed users), reduced administrative effort for the small IT team, and faster, more responsive support. Sophos’ solution now secures the LCOE, Lassen County, and Lassen County Community College and has enabled the IT staff to manage security more efficiently and confidently.
