International Islamic University Malaysia - Customer Case Study

The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) needed to protect data for more than 15,000 employees and students across multiple campuses while working with a limited IT budget and an open, BYOD campus culture. Faced with poor visibility across devices, time-consuming reporting, the need to filter outbound traffic, and the requirement to secure critical departments like finance and HR, IIUM chose Sophos and adopted Sophos Intercept X and Sophos Central Endpoint to move from a traditional on‑premises model to a centralized, cloud-based endpoint security platform.

Sophos implemented Intercept X and Sophos Central Endpoint to provide deep‑learning malware detection, web filtering, application and device control, and a unified dashboard for real‑time visibility and reporting. The centralized Sophos platform simplified investigations, blocked known and unknown threats that previous tools missed, reduced reporting time and manpower, and delivered institution‑wide protection for more than 15,000 users—freeing IIUM’s IT team to focus on improving internal infrastructure.
