Financial services company and long-term Sophos customer Scrutton Bland upgrade to Sophos UTM for consolidated security, protection and network provision

Scrutton Bland, a UK financial services firm with about 160 employees across three sites, faced growing security and administration challenges as staff and clients increasingly used personal laptops and smartphones. Long-term Sophos customer Scrutton Bland needed stronger device encryption, better firewall and Wi‑Fi controls, improved reporting and bandwidth management, and to eliminate a manual process that required reviewing roughly 6,000 quarantined emails a day.

Sophos addressed these issues by deploying Sophos UTM (three units), Sophos RED for site connectivity, Safeguard Encryption for mobile devices and USBs, plus whitelisting and planned migration to Sophos antivirus. The Sophos solution separated guest and staff networks, automated hotspot keys, consolidated management and licensing, and cut admin time by about 1–2 hours daily (up to half a day weekly), improved reporting and bandwidth control, strengthened firewall protection and delivered multi-year cost savings.
