Self-scheduling at the Chamber of Commerce

KVK (the Dutch Chamber of Commerce) struggled with rigid, centrally produced shift schedules for its special advisory department—130 expert advisors spread across 8 locations—that hurt flexibility, motivation and service responsiveness. To address this, KVK turned to Soon and its Soon self-scheduling software to explore a more advisor-driven scheduling model.

Soon implemented a self-scheduling system that lets advisors book 2-hour shifts up to 8 weeks in advance, with enforced minimum/maximum staffing, skill-based shift trading, and integrated leave requests; the rollout covered all 8 locations and the 130 advisors in the department. The Soon solution reduced planners’ workload, distributed responsibility, and increased advisor satisfaction and productivity while lowering voluntary absenteeism—delivering measurable operational changes in scheduling practice and scale under the Soon platform.
