The customer, Worthing, a seaside town facing mobile coverage gaps due to seasonal tourism fluctuations, partnered with vendor Sonin. Their challenge was to develop a mobile application for the BEACH project that would deliver value to the community while also collecting anonymized signal data to support national 5G infrastructure research.

Sonin designed and delivered the "My Worthing" app, which provided local discovery features to drive engagement. With user consent, it collected critical signal data in the background without impacting device performance. This solution provided the BEACH consortium with a comprehensive dataset that directly supported the deployment of over 20 energy-efficient 5G small cells. The app was downloaded over 2,000 times during its initial rollout, successfully balancing public value with infrastructure goals and contributing to the town's carbon neutrality objectives.
