World-class National Science Centre in Johannesburg leads the way in education

Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, a major science education hub in Johannesburg with over 300 staff and high-density classroom and conference traffic, was outgrowing its legacy network and needed a fast, secure, scalable wireless solution. Working with SonicWall, the centre sought high-performance firewall protection and wireless access to support simultaneous internet use across hundreds of devices and a large number of access points.

SonicWall delivered a core redesign using a pair of SonicWall SuperMassive 9400 firewalls in high availability, SonicPoint ACe access points (128 deployed), SonicWall Global Management System and a five-year SonicWall Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite. The rollout delivered markedly faster, more stable wireless connectivity, centralized management and clear scalability, and blocked large volumes of threats monthly (≈438,791 IPS events, 99 virus events, 1 spyware event), leaving Sci-Bono confident in long‑term performance and security.
