A SonicWall Case Study
Western Dental Services, Inc., a regional DHMO with more than 4,000 employees, over 200 offices and 160 sites, faced unreliable WAN circuits, complex VPN/WLAN management and the need to protect patient records during a transition to electronic medical records. To centrally manage security and ensure reliable connectivity across its distributed network, the company selected SonicWall and its solutions — notably SonicWall GMS plus E-Class NSA E5500, TZ 210 firewalls, SonicWall SSL VPN, SonicPoint‑N and SonicWall Virtual Assist.
SonicWall GMS centrally manages the distributed SonicWall appliances (paired HA NSA E5500 at corporate and DR sites, TZ 210 at remote sites, SSL VPN for mobile access, SonicPoint‑N WLANs and Virtual Assist for remote troubleshooting), giving Western Dental enterprise-wide visibility, rapid configuration pushes to 160 locations, and automated failover (including 3G) for resilient connectivity. The SonicWall deployment reduced operational overhead by enabling minimal-staff management, improved reporting and compliance (two‑factor/OTP for HIPAA), and lowered operating costs while streamlining a network-wide upgrade to the TZ 210 platform.
