University Secures its Network Against 323,000 Attacks Per Day

The University of Dundee, a UK higher-education institution with 3,000 staff and 17,000 students, needed to protect its world-class research and support a growing BYOD culture while keeping the network easy to manage and enabling secure mobile working. To address this, it partnered with SonicWall and deployed SonicWall SuperMassive 9800 Firewalls with Comprehensive Gateway Security Suite, SonicWall Secure Remote Access and SonicWall Global Management System.

SonicWall’s solution now protects the campus core—blocking up to 323,000 attacks per day—and supports more than 3,500 wireless access points and 50,000+ devices, enabling faster, secure internet access, hot-desking and cross-campus working. The SonicWall deployment delivered user-and-device based security (replacing IP/VLAN), centralized “single pane” management, detailed user activity reporting and predictable lease-based costs, improving productivity and network resilience.
