The University of Pisa needed a total email security solution to protect sensitive data and manage extremely high mail volumes—about 500,000 emails sent and received every day—while blocking incoming threats. SonicWall was engaged to address these critical email challenges using its Virtual Appliance Email Security offering.

SonicWall, working with its Italian team and partner Key Data, deployed Virtual Appliance Email Security (three Remote Analyzers and a Control Center) in September 2018; within a month it centralized management and scaled to the university’s needs while keeping network impact low. SonicWall’s solution now blocks more than 500 viruses, over 1,000 phishing attempts and roughly 60,000 spam messages daily, reportedly stopping over 80% of threats and delivering customizable, high‑security protection.
