Security for Critical Structures in the Healthcare Sector

Association Waldfriede Hospital, a 950‑employee non‑profit acute care and teaching hospital in Germany, faced CRITIS‑level security challenges: protecting sensitive patient data, regulating access to devices and applications, and securely integrating internet‑connected medical devices. To meet these demands the hospital engaged SonicWall to modernize its network perimeter defenses.

SonicWall upgraded the site from NSa 3600 to two NSa 5700 appliances deployed as an active/passive cluster and provisioned three years of Capture ATP services. The migration preserved the existing configuration while delivering much higher throughput and threat‑prevention performance, enabling additional network segmentation zones, stronger protection against zero‑day and unknown threats, improved stability and flexible port connectivity — materially strengthening the hospital’s security posture.
