School aids pupils’ learning with safe internet access

St Dominic’s School for Girls, a faith-based K–12 school in Johannesburg serving roughly 1,100 pupils and about 1,200 users in total, faced an outdated, hard-to-manage IT environment with limited internet access and weak security. To future-proof its network, provide safe, filtered internet for multiple devices per user, and protect sensitive student and staff data, the school chose SonicWall as part of its IT refresh.

SonicWall implemented a solution centered on the NSA 4600 next‑generation firewall, SonicPoint N2 wireless access points and SonicWall Analyzer, alongside new cabling, servers and endpoints. The deployment delivered zoned, scalable wireless and safe internet access across classrooms and staff, centralized granular control and reporting, and measurable gains — supporting four times as many users without firefighting, saving IT time for proactive work, and recording no security breaches or content‑filtering issues.
