A SonicWall Case Study
Rhenish Primary School, a K–12 school in South Africa, faced a surge of student‑owned devices with its move to blended learning and needed to secure on‑site browsing while preserving limited bandwidth. The school had outgrown an offsite ISP firewall and turned to SonicWall, selecting a SonicWall NSa 4650 next‑generation firewall with the Advanced Gateway Security Suite to provide content filtering, gateway antivirus/anti‑spyware, intrusion protection and user authentication.
SonicWall implemented the NSa 4650 with content filtering (HTTP/HTTPS), LDAP/SSO integration, SSL authentication and a RADIUS/captive portal, giving Rhenish Primary granular access control and visibility. Since deployment the school reports a significant reduction in malware activity, tighter control of bandwidth for school‑related use, and increased peace of mind for staff and leadership — benefits SonicWall helped deliver and that the principal now recommends to other schools.
