Kristin School Turns to Sonicwall to Keep Students Safe and Scholarly

Kristin School, a K–13 education institute in New Zealand with about 1,600 students and a BYOD policy that regularly brings more than 1,200 devices onto the network, needed a reliable way to keep students safe online while maintaining uninterrupted access to learning resources. To address this, Kristin School turned to SonicWall and deployed the SonicWall SuperMassive Series firewall.

SonicWall implemented the SuperMassive Series—using SonicOS, Reassembly Free Deep Packet Inspection (RFDPI) and a massively multi‑core, scalable architecture—to provide application control, intrusion prevention, malware protection and TLS/SSL decryption at multi‑gigabit speeds. The deployment eliminated the significant dropouts and restarts of the previous system, delivered transparent traffic monitoring and effective blocking of inappropriate content across 1,200+ devices, and freed IT staff to focus on new technical projects while improving overall network reliability.
