Kalyani Government Engineering College Builds Security Effectiveness With Sonicwall

Kalyani Government Engineering College (KGEC), an autonomous engineering institute in West Bengal, faced growing challenges with bandwidth management, content filtering, application control and network visibility while needing to protect ~220 faculty/staff and 1,800 students from rising cyber threats and harmful web content. To address these risks and ensure resilient operations, KGEC engaged SonicWall and evaluated next‑generation firewall capabilities for campuswide protection.

SonicWall deployed the NSa 5600 next‑generation firewall as the campus perimeter, segmenting the network into two zones (faculty and students) and applying tailored security policies, advanced URL filtering, application visibility, bandwidth management, ISP failover and load balancing, plus centralized management and reporting. As a result, SonicWall improved security effectiveness—safeguarding users from malicious content, giving IT clear visibility into online activity, ensuring continuity across multiple ISPs, and simplifying compliance and operations.
