Case Study: UnitedStack achieves a secure, cost-efficient OpenStack cloud with SonicWall

A SonicWall Case Study

Preview of the UnitedStack Case Study

Innovative cloud service in China takes off

UnitedStack, a China-based technology company, set out to capture first-mover advantage by building an OpenStack-based private cloud for enterprise customers but needed robust, end-to-end infrastructure and strong security to reassure cautious enterprises. As part of that stack, SonicWall supplied the NSA 220 firewall to secure communication between headquarters and data centers and to protect management and maintenance channels.

SonicWall’s NSA 220 delivered encrypted management traffic and active defense against denial-of-service attempts—stopping attacks that tried to block uplink ports and preventing packet loss—helping UnitedStack keep its UOS cloud highly available. That security, together with the broader Dell-based platform, supported double-digit customer growth, fast reliable access to big-data applications, a significant reduction in total cost of ownership and an expected payback within three years, with SonicWall cited as instrumental in maintaining service continuity and customer confidence.
