A SonicWall Case Study
The National Institute of Technology in Puducherry, an Institute of National Importance serving roughly 1,200 students and 177 employees, was facing malware attacks, frequent CPU spikes and peak‑hour outages due to limitations of its existing firewall and lack of high‑end technical support. Seeking a low‑maintenance, high‑availability solution with a low total cost of ownership and administrative support, NITPY engaged SonicWall to modernize its perimeter defenses.
SonicWall implemented its NSa 6700 next‑generation firewall and ESA 9000 email security, along with IPS, gateway antivirus and Capture ATP services, using zero‑touch deployment and a two‑firewall single‑license model. The SonicWall deployment removed bottlenecks and peak‑hour outages, enabled intuitive monitoring and proactive malware analysis, enforced URL filtering to prevent email‑borne leaks, and lowered TCO—freeing the IT team to focus on core activities while protecting the institute’s users.
