Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, the largest media institute in the Benelux with 4,500 students and 400 staff, was hitting a bandwidth bottleneck as students used increasingly media‑rich applications and cloud services. Their existing SonicWall SuperMassive E10200 firewall was maxing out just as the college upgraded its internet to 10 Gbps and needed secure, BYOD‑friendly access across multiple sites.

SonicWall upgraded the deployment to a SuperMassive E10800 HA pair, added blades and processing cores, and updated firmware—an installation that took about 15 minutes with zero downtime. The SonicWall upgrade raised deep packet inspection throughput from 3 to 12 Gbps, expanded processing cores from 32 to 96, cut core utilization from 98% to roughly 20%, and completed the college’s 10 Gbps network while improving gateway security, content filtering, malware protection, DDoS resilience and centralized management via SonicWall Global Management System.
