A SonicWall Case Study
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) needed to protect a segmented biomedical research network (BHRIC) that contains ePHI while supporting four data centers and six satellite campuses on 10 Gbps links. The university faced regulatory mandates including HIPAA, NIST, FERPA and PCI DSS and the operational challenge of student BYOD traffic (gaming and streaming) that could jeopardize performance and data privacy. To meet these requirements FAU turned to SonicWall and deployed SonicWall Supermassive 9600s.
SonicWall implemented a pair of Supermassive 9600 high-end firewalls to isolate and independently secure the biomedical and health research network, enabling compliance and reliable access controls. The SonicWall solution delivered segmented, uncompromised security with low total cost of ownership, ease of deployment and high ROI; FAU reports hassle-free ownership and maintained research data integrity almost two years after installation, demonstrating lasting operational and compliance impact.
