County government weathers storm with secure mobile access

Fulton County Government needed a secure way to keep employees connected to critical applications during weather emergencies without compromising security. To meet that need, the county worked with SonicWall and deployed the SonicWall Secure Mobile Access (SMA) platform along with the SonicWall Spike License Pack to scale remote access for its workforce.

SonicWall implemented three SMA appliances (a high-availability pair in the main data center and a remote appliance for Spike License accounts), enabling virtual encrypted access for unmanaged devices, granular endpoint controls, and authentication to legacy applications. The solution connected about 2,000 workers during a severe blizzard, lowered support overhead, expanded remote-user capacity to hundreds or thousands via the Spike pack, and prevented shutdowns of critical county departments.
