A Sonicu Case Study
Hancock Physician’s Network, a multi-disciplinary health network in Greenfield, Indiana, needed to improve its vaccine storage program after costly losses caused by power outages and refrigerator failures. The network stored multiple vaccine types across family, pediatric, internal medicine, and immediate care sites, and it wanted to standardize storage practices to meet Vaccines for Children (VFC) guidelines and protect both private and VFC stock. Sonicu’s wireless temperature monitoring was used to help provide continuous oversight of refrigerator and freezer conditions.
Sonicu equipped all vaccine refrigerators and freezers with wireless temperature monitoring devices and 24/7/365 text and email alerts, giving HPN the data needed to identify unstable household refrigerators and prioritize replacements. Using that temperature data, HPN phased out 75% of its household units within months and standardized on Helmer Scientific medical-grade refrigerators and freezers, with plans to replace the rest. The result was stronger temperature stability, better protection of vaccine inventory, improved efficiency, and a more reliable vaccine program that supports safer patient care.
