RR Mechatronics’ Strategic Approach to Technical Debt with SonarQube

RR Mechatronics, a long-established medical instrument manufacturer, faced growing technical debt that threatened software quality and regulatory compliance in a highly regulated industry. To address these challenges they partnered with SonarSource and adopted SonarQube to align development with standards like MISRA and to integrate automated quality checks into their workflows.

SonarSource implemented SonarQube across RR Mechatronics’ CI/CD pipeline, froze legacy code to prevent further degradation, and enforced quality gates and pull-request checks to ensure new code met Clean Code and compliance standards. The result was measurable: developers now catch issues earlier in pull requests, code quality and team collaboration improved, and SonarSource’s SonarQube significantly reduced the likelihood of future technical debt while streamlining compliance demonstrations.
