Huawei launches live World Cup wrist companion with Somnio Software

Huawei partnered with Somnio Software to create a wrist-first experience for football fans during the World Cup. The challenge was to build a high-performance smartwatch app for Huawei wearables that would deliver live match scores and key events instantly, without draining the battery, and to create a platform scalable for future leagues.

Somnio Software developed and launched the Wrist Goal app on HarmonyOS NEXT through HUAWEI AppGallery. The solution provided fans with glanceable, real-time match information via Service Widgets and was built on a template-based architecture for easy future expansion. As a result, Huawei successfully delivered a high-performance wearable experience for the World Cup and established a reusable platform that maximizes its initial investment.
