Home Improvement Retailer faced hundreds of millions in annual inbound costs moving product from vendors to stores using a mix of RDCs and SDCs, constrained by fixed order intervals and static transportation rules that limited responsiveness to seasonality, assortment changes, and new vendor capabilities. The retailer engaged Solvoyo to apply its Elevation Platform and solutions in Demand Planning, Replenishment Planning and Transportation Planning to enable concurrent evaluation of inventory and transportation trade-offs.
Solvoyo implemented a concurrent planning model on the Elevation Platform to synchronize procurement, inbound/inter-facility transportation and store replenishment, optimizing order frequency, vendor pick-up location and transport mode for each vendor across ~500,000 annual shipments from 800+ vendors to 2,000+ stores. A POC covering 4 RDCs showed a $25M annual opportunity across RDCs, the platform rollout delivered more than $100M USD in annual savings (including $52M within 7 months), and the retailer has since expanded Solvoyo’s solution across additional DCs while maintaining target service levels.
