The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is a global nonprofit supporting ethical fundraising with 30,000 members across 213 chapters and over $11M in net assets managed through 60 cost centers. AFP struggled with a top-down, paper-driven budgeting process that provided no real-time visibility or lower-level reporting, required IT teams to produce reports, left cost center managers disengaged and made accurate forecasting and timely adjustments nearly impossible.

AFP implemented Solver on a Microsoft Dynamics GP platform to deliver lower-level, real-time operational reporting and shift to a bottom-up budgeting approach that empowers cost center managers. The change eliminated heavy IT involvement, shortened and streamlined budget cycles, produced immediate time and cost savings, and dramatically improved forecasting accuracy—so much so that AFP now meets forecasts reliably and has stronger credibility with its Board.
