Multi Academy Trust, an independent self-governing trust made up of five schools, faced a major restructuring challenge in one primary school due to falling intake, reduced funding, and a £250,000 in-year deficit. Solutions For HR was brought in to provide HR consultancy and legal advice for a large-scale collective redundancy consultation involving redundancy, removal of TLR enhancements, role re-organisation, and reduced hours.
Solutions For HR mapped out the restructure, engaged early with unions, notified the Redundancy Payments Service, and led a structured eight-week consultation process with employee reps, unions, and affected staff. The approach included voluntary redundancy, new role circulation, weekly Q&A updates, and support services, resulting in a fair and robust process with no appeals or litigation and successful engagement from all unions and employees.
