Case Study: Obamacare Project achieves time-travel testing and weeks saved in regression with Solution-Soft Time Machine

Time Machine® helps to streamline State’s Health Insurance Exchange (a.k.a. Obamacare) Project

A state health insurance exchange needed to validate enrollment-related processes across past, present and future dates for ACA compliance, but testing was blocked by Active Directory/Kerberos constraints and the risks of changing system clocks (invalid SSL, missing domain accounts and potential OS/database instability). The exchange partnered with Solution-Soft and evaluated its Time Machine date-testing product to address these constraints.

Solution-Soft implemented Time Machine to provide a transparent virtual clock for applications—allowing testers to time-travel without changing the system clock or modifying application code. The product was operational in about 15 minutes and enabled comprehensive “what-if” and regression testing across releases without impacting other users or systems, saving the project weeks of regression testing and development time and avoiding costly system restores.
