Time Machine Helps Armed Forces Insurance Migrate from Legacy Mainframe to a Cloud-Based Core System from Guidewire Insurance Now

Armed Forces Insurance (AFI) needed to migrate its legacy MicroFocus mainframe core systems to an AWS cloud-based Guidewire InsuranceNow platform, but faced a heavy testing burden: full integration, functional and regression tests across multiple states and lines of business that required time-sensitive, back-dated, future-dated and out-of-sequence testing. AFI worked with Solution-Soft and used its Time Machine product to address the specific challenge of safely manipulating application time without changing server clocks.

Solution-Soft provided Time Machine (with its Sync Server option) to virtualize and broadcast test time across AFI’s environments, avoiding disruptive system clock changes and enabling testers to move to target dates quickly. The result was faster test execution, shorter test cycles and accelerated releases; AFI completed required testing on time and within budget and successfully migrated nine states to the cloud-based system.
