NC FAST (North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology), part of the NC Department of Health and Human Services, needed to test date- and time-sensitive events in a complex IBM Cúram-based environment where multiple application instances shared LPARs; changing the OS date/time on an LPAR disrupted other teams and systems. To solve this, they engaged Solution-Soft and its Time Machine product to support controlled time-shift testing.

Solution-Soft’s Time Machine was implemented to change date/time across all components specific to an environment—web servers, application servers, XML servers, job schedulers, databases and message brokers—without touching the OS clock, streamlining time-shift execution, troubleshooting and deployments. NC FAST runs Time Machine in three test environments and one development environment, has expanded its use to Medicaid and the state’s Eligibility Information System for ACA work, and reports substantial time and cost savings since the late‑2012 proof of concept and production use beginning February 2013.
