Canada's Medavie Blue Cross Integrates Time Machine® for Perfect, On-Time, On-Budget Solution

Medavie Blue Cross, a Canadian insurer offering individual and family health, dental, vision and prescription plans, needed to perform date-forward testing of a critical Oracle-based claims application (Medicare Rules Composer) on Solaris UNIX under a very tight timeline and limited budget. They evaluated Solution-Soft’s Time Machine product to address virtual time testing requirements for their QA team.

Solution-Soft’s Time Machine was integrated by setting Oracle’s virtual time via a sudo-invoked wrapper and using unique Oracle usernames with a maintenance database, enabling multiple virtual clocks on a single system. The Solution-Soft implementation let Medavie Blue Cross host multiple Oracle test environments on the same hardware, avoid additional hardware and software license purchases, speed up testing by allowing testers to change time without sysadmin intervention, and delivered immediate productivity gains and cost savings while completing the project on time and on budget.
