The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency needed a comprehensive, up-to-date overview of waterway usage to support fairway maintenance and development, but existing data was scattered and unsuitable for continuous planning. Solita was engaged to develop a customized location-based analytics solution to address this challenge.

Solita developed a solution combining AIS data and fairway area data, processed via Snowflake and visualized in Tableau dashboards. This provided the agency with accurate data on vessel types, draughts, and traffic patterns, directly enhancing fairway planning, safety improvements, and maintenance resource allocation. The solution offered an up-to-date, user-friendly tool for internal planning, with a data warehouse built to adapt for future stakeholder needs.
