A Solita Case Study
Laattapiste, a tile and home improvement retailer, faced a significant challenge when the COVID-19 pandemic emptied its physical stores. The company had long believed its customers preferred an in-person shopping experience and had not prioritized building an online shop. Partnering with the vendor Solita, they needed to quickly establish a new digital sales channel to continue business.
Solita implemented an agile solution, creating a pilot version of an online shop with a manual shopping cart in just one week. This was later automated and developed into a full e-commerce platform using a modern Azure cloud architecture and an Optimizely (Episerver) Commerce solution. The results were immediate and substantial, providing Laattapiste with a new outlet channel that significantly sped up warehouse turnover. The online shop achieved sales volumes comparable to a physical store, with an average purchase of nearly 300 euros, and sold 600 square meters of tiles within its first few months.
