A Solita Case Study
Fortum, a major energy company, sought to accelerate internal innovation by generating new business ideas and internal start-ups from its employees. To facilitate this, they partnered with the vendor Solita to design and implement an intensive Boot Camp training program that was open to all employees globally.
Solita designed a seven-week, "learning by doing" Boot Camp program that used lean, start-up, and service design methods to coach employees. The solution culminated in teams pitching their ideas to Fortum management for funding. As a result of Solita's program, 50 employees were coached, nine ideas were pitched, and four received pilot funding. A year later, one idea became a division development project and another an internal start-up, while all participants became ambassadors for innovation culture within the company.
