Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea builds 2 new registers with Solita

The Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea, the supervisor of the Finnish pharmaceutical sector, needed to modernize its outdated 1990s-era register of medicinal products and marketing authorizations. The old system had clear shortcomings in usability, data capacity, and integration, requiring changes to meet current needs. Solita was engaged to address this challenge and develop a new, efficient register platform.

Solita created the modern Saga register, a browser-based platform that consolidated correct information on all medicines with marketing authorizations in Finland into a single, easy-to-use system. The solution also established a shared register platform to speed up future projects. The results included a dramatic improvement in usability and data volume, EU-level compatibility, seamless integrations, and a foundation for agile development. Fimea gained significant agility know-how, and the new platform has already enabled the building of additional registers with fewer resources.
