Fimea cuts manual tasks by half with Solita

Fimea, the Finnish Medicines Agency, faced the challenge of modernizing its outdated 1998 data center-based system for reporting and processing adverse pharmaceutical reactions. The old system was rigid, created manual work, and did not produce high-quality data, which was a critical issue for pharmaceutical safety. Partnering with Solita, Fimea sought to transition to the cloud and develop a modern digital service to meet new international standards and improve efficiency.

Solita implemented a new cloud-based register and modernized the Hava processing service using an agile approach and their Platform Engineering model with CloudBlox. The solution significantly reduced manual tasks by half, freeing experts to focus on core duties and improving job satisfaction. For Fimea, the project resulted in higher-quality data for enhanced pharmaceutical safety, a scalable cloud platform, and the creation of the FimeaWay operating model for future development. The success has generated significant international interest from other agencies.
