Coxa Hospital for Joint Replacement, a leading specialized joint replacement hospital, faced the challenge of predicting individual patient risks in surgery to improve outcomes and reduce costly, difficult revisions. Their large volume of historical surgical data held potential insights. Partnering with vendor Solita, they aimed to leverage this data to build a predictive AI tool, which would become known as Oravizio.

Solita collaborated with Coxa to consolidate surgical data into a dedicated data lake and develop unique AI and machine learning models trained on over 45,000 operations. The resulting Oravizio software provided clear, patient-specific risk evaluations for infection, revision, and mortality, supporting surgeon decision-making and patient communication. The solution became the world's first CE-marked medical software for this purpose, successfully used in clinical trials at Coxa and piloted in other hospitals, improving surgical success rates and reducing complications before being jointly discontinued after achieving its initial goals.
