Legacy Transforms Drive High-Speed PostScript Printers, Reprint Process and Archive System

The University of Arizona needed to improve its centralized print services for over one million pages per month to meet increasing demands from various departments. Their challenge was to upgrade to faster PostScript printers while continuing to use their existing legacy forms, fonts, and applications without a lengthy and expensive conversion process. Solimar Systems was selected to provide a solution using its Print/Director system.

Solimar implemented its Print/Director system with XCHANGE and XIMAGE modules to seamlessly convert the university's legacy Xerox LCDS/Metacode data into PostScript for new high-speed printers. The solution enabled the University of Arizona to double its print speed, maintain all legacy assets, and introduce new capabilities like creating PDFs for archiving and generating forms from Windows applications. Solimar's solution also centralized print management, significantly reduced operational costs for labor, toner, and maintenance, and provided reliable, high-quality output.
