A SolidWorks Case Study
Tauberbischofsheim Commercial College, a German vocational school with almost 800 students and more than 40 teachers, needed to better prepare graduates for local industry demands after many students requested training on SolidWorks. A survey of approximately 100 surrounding companies showed SolidWorks as the predominant CAD system, so the college chose SolidWorks Education Edition (with VAR support from Solidpro GmbH) to align its design curriculum with employer needs.
SolidWorks was rolled out across programs for industrial mechanics, technical drafters and engineering technicians, using the Education Edition’s tutorials and teaching videos alongside school-created materials and hands-on projects (including an electrically powered ride-on lawn mower). With SolidWorks and Solidpro’s support the introduction was smooth—students became productive quickly, comprehension improved, and the college reports stronger career preparation and clear, intuitive CAD handling as measurable outcomes.
