Case Study: Staatliche Feintechnikschule Schwenningen achieves industry-ready graduates with SolidWorks

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Staatliche Feintechnikschule Schwenningen Case Study

Taking technical training into the 21st century with SolidWorks soft ware

Staatliche Feintechnikschule Schwenningen (FTS), a long-established vocational and technical school in Germany’s manufacturing region, needed to modernize its training from 2D drafting to industry-standard 3D design so graduates would be job-ready for local manufacturers. After evaluating options, FTS chose SolidWorks and implemented the SolidWorks Education Edition (with integrated SolidCAM) as a mandatory part of its curriculum.

By deploying SolidWorks Education Edition and integrated SolidCAM—supported locally by reseller SolidPro—FTS rolled out over 1,500 software licenses across roughly 30 schools, enabling more than 4,000 students to gain hands-on design-to-production experience, pursue CSWA certification, and work on real company projects. The SolidWorks-based program accelerated CAD instruction, forged partnerships with manufacturers, and measurably improved students’ employment readiness and certification outcomes.
