Case Study: NEXX Systems achieves faster development cycles and eliminates ECO backlog with SolidWorks Enterprise PDM

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the NEXX Systems Case Study

Streamlining wafer packaging equipment development with SolidWorks Enterprise

NEXX Systems, Inc., a maker of equipment for advanced wafer-level packaging, faced growing pains as its use of SolidWorks 3D CAD generated large volumes of assembly and component design data. Manual file-renaming and ad-hoc revision control led to errors, a backlog of engineering change orders (ECOs), slow development cycles, and the need for an integrated product data management solution from SolidWorks.

NEXX Systems implemented SolidWorks Enterprise PDM (14 seats plus four SolidWorks Enterprise Web Client seats), migrating 35,000–40,000 files over a single weekend. SolidWorks’ PDM delivered automated revision control and workflow, cutting ECO change time from about a day to an hour, eliminating the ECO backlog, reducing scrap and rework, and giving Purchasing, Sales, and Service web access to current design data—accelerating development and improving enterprise-wide data use.
