Società Gomma Antivibrante Srl (S.g.a.) Speeding Tram/railway Vibration-damping Product Development With Simuliaworks

S.G.A is a leading Italian manufacturer of anti-vibration components for rail, tram and marine applications that faced long lead times and heavy physical prototyping to validate nonlinear, large-displacement and multiphysics behavior of elastomer parts. To accelerate development and reduce prototypes, S.G.A adopted SolidWorks technologies—moving to SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD and adding the cloud-based SIMULIAworks simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform—to run advanced nonlinear, thermal and pre-compression analyses within its design workflow.

By deploying SolidWorks solutions with SIMULIAworks, S.G.A validated the silent block on a Hitachi carriage connector arm bushing and cut lead times from design to final configuration, minimized the number of prototypes required, and lowered production and control-equipment change costs. SolidWorks’ integrated cloud simulation gave S.G.A accurate, multistep/multiphysics results (including shrinkage and steel plasticization effects), enabling faster, safer product development and measurable savings in time and prototyping expense.
